Know Your Numbers: 6 WhatsApp Sales Metrics Every Business Owner Should Track

Many businesses run their entire sales process on WhatsApp — yet can't answer simple questions like "How many leads did we get last month?" or "How many of them bought?"

You don't need complicated dashboards. Start with these six numbers.

1. New leads per week

How many new people started a conversation with you? Track it weekly and by source — QR code, website, Instagram, exhibition, referral. This tells you which marketing is actually working.

2. First response time

How long does a new lead wait for your first reply? On WhatsApp, customers expect minutes, not hours. If this number is high, you are losing sales before the conversation even starts.

3. Lead-to-customer conversion

Out of every 100 leads, how many become paying customers? This one number tells you whether your sales conversations are working. Improve it, and every rupee you spend on marketing goes further.

4. Where deals get stuck

Look at your pipeline stages. If many leads sit in Contacted but few move to Negotiating, your first pitch needs work. If they stall in Negotiating, look at pricing, trust or follow-up.

5. Campaign results

For every broadcast, check delivered, read and replied counts — and how many replies turned into orders. Over time you will learn which offers, timings and audiences perform best.

6. Cost per message and per sale

WhatsApp Business messages have a small per-conversation cost. Add it up per campaign and compare it with the revenue it brought in. That is your real return on WhatsApp marketing.

Make it a weekly habit

Pick a fixed time every week — Monday morning works well — and review these six numbers with your team. Celebrate what improved, and choose one thing to fix that week.

How WABABA helps

WABABA shows these numbers without spreadsheets: new leads by source, a drag-and-drop pipeline from New to Won, delivered/read/replied counts for each campaign, revenue from won deals, and a receipt for every message with month-to-date spend and forecast.

What gets measured gets improved — and with WhatsApp, measuring has never been easier.
